How did things get so bad? I just read on DU that they tortured a little 12 year old girl. Of course its not substantiated but I don't put it past those animals. Yes, I called members of our military animals...that is how bad it has gotten.
What are they going to do now? Sorry just isn't going to cut it. Is the UN going to condemn these actions and put economic sanctions on our country? The World Court is investigating....what can they do?
IMO the US needs to hand over control over all prisons in Iraq to..who, I'm not sure...perhaps another member of the coalition and release just about everyone there. Those that remain should be treated extremely well...as they should have been in the first place.
I did not want to say the Pledge of Allegiance with my second graders this morning but I did of course....... 
Usually I make sure everyone has their hands on their hearts and that they all say the words....and sometimes we talk about the words like Liberty and Justice afterward....
Liberty? Yeah right...Patriot Act..feeling a draft
Justice? They stole our President and installed a war monger and our military tortures people now...Americans torturing people. Will Liberals be next?

This is the direct results of the PATRIOT ACT Erin! THEY are DRUNK with POWER! They get out from under EVERYTHING!....ENRON!...9/11!...IRAQI!...AND NOW THEY WANT TO SQUIRM OUT FROM UNDER THIS TOO! 
But We CAN STOP Them! We HAVE AIR AMERICA! They are picking up MORE Stations than THEY are losing!Mr. Gore & Mr. Hyatt HAVE NWI! INd-TV is on the way! I may go down, but NOT without a FIGHT! Get ahold of AL GORE & let him know I AM READY! WE ARE READY! If I get there I plan on letting The Legitimate President of the United States KNOW about ALL of us! AL GORE YOU HAVE AN ARMY READY TO MARCH ON YOUR COMMAND! 
BU$H will let Rumsfeld take the heat. He will let OUR Military take the FALL while he tries to slide back into office again! Becoming Viet Nam? AFTER THIS SCANDAL IT ALREADY IS! 
The corporations are backing him! Disney is trying to silence Michael Moore! The world will see "Fahrenheit 911" but the US PUBLIC will be denied to see it! They want us to just SHUT UP! I say NO! Together we WILL be VICTORIOUS! Get ahold of Mr. Gore and tell him Rev. Papa Bear the Paraclete is READY! I sent him my resume' again! I only have so much time left! Then I will be down for good! Oh no, you are right ..they are not getting out from under it this time! They've lost all moral high ground they pretended to have.
Bush is not happy right now. I saw a picture of him yesterday and he looked like he was really feeling this one. Will try to find the link again.

No doubt these war crimes are an embarrasment to our country.
The people responsible (and this includes ranking members of the chain of command) need to be convicted and punished. Placing these people as MPs without being trained, was a huge mistake.
Sen Kennedy is right in saying that Rumsfeld needs to step down and we need a new type of direction in the Pentagon. Rumsfeld said he would resign if he felt that he could no longer do his job effectivly. Well due to this situation, it appears he did not use proper judgement and therefore he has not done an effective job. So maybe Bush might need to give him his release. But obviously that will not happen. Maybe its due because we are in the middle of an election year. But I would respect Bush somewhat if he did fire Rumsfeld. It would show Bush has no tolerance for such mistakes.

This is well beyond just calling for Rumsfeld to resign. This is the Bush Administration, Bush set policies, Bush calling them combatants, Bush saying the rules of war do not apply. Is he or is he not the pResident? The buck stops there - from the bottom up, the other stuff is side show to alieve him of blame and responsbility.
The damage to this country, the soldiers who are still out there in harms way, our world standing in the world, continues to degrate since this Administration took power.
The pResident is NOT doing his job - residing over government, residing over a War HE WAGED and forced upon the American people by lies and deception. The Democratic party, the media, the American people did not do their job - reside over government and hold elected officials accountable!

When the Bush admin. started imprisoning people at Gitmo without charge, access to a lawyer or family, or even to the provisions of the Geneva Convention, that should have signalled to the world that something just was not right. It led straight to the horrific events that happened at that prison in Iraq.

Anyone remember the movie "VideoDrome"? If you listen to Conservative AM radio now they talk like abuse & torture are just OK now because BU$H uses it...They act like the US military using "humiliation" tactics is a "good" thing...These "morons" probably get into strapping their wives to the bedpost and lashing her with a "cat-o-nine tails"...but if Howard Stern was to mention something even remotely near like this they would FINE HIM FOR IT! It must be NICE to be a BU$H Butt-SMOOCHER working for the AM RADIO ATTACK MACHINE! YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH SAYING ANYTHING!
As for me folks, I am up for a broadcast job Thursday, so hopefully with God's good graces I will have a better job! BUT I WON'T THANK BU$H FOR IT! All HE has managed to do is keep guys like me OUT OF WORK for the LAST FOUR YEARS! Now at the end of the term his 'corporate' friends try to put a 'bandage on th boo-boo' which has become a gaping festering wound and we are supposed to 'forgive' Dubya for ALL of his faults? Not me! ONLY the GOOD LORD deserves my thanks WHEN I get this job. And I will thank ONLY the Lord for helping me at this time.
Meanwhile BU$H & the Rove Cabal look for "scapegoats" to get themselves out from under this prison scandal...So they are going to use a "naive" pregnant girl from West Virginia who posed for pictures as ordered by her superiors because of BU$H "policy"...Who came up with THE PATRIOT ACT? BU$H DID WITH ASHCROFT(THE MAN WHO LOST IN MISSOURI TO A DEAD MAN'S WIFE)...WHO CAME UP WITH "ENEMY COMBATANT"? BU$H, CHENEY & ROVE DID! THAT'S WHO! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! At a Senate hearing last week, Attorney General John Ashcroft claimed that President George W. Bush never ordered torture in connection with abusive interrogations of prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan and violated no criminal laws of the United States. But the attorney general did not describe what the president did order with respect to these interrogations - and he refused to turn over key documents to the Senate.
The attorney general's self- serving sweeping denial disqualifies him from investigating and holding accountable those responsible for these interrogations. Ashcroft should appoint a special prosecutor to do so.
Under a little known statute, any American involved in the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners, including the president of the United States, could be guilty of a federal crime.
The War Crimes Act of 1996 punishes any U.S. national, civilian or military, who engages in a grave breach of the Geneva Conventions. A grave breach means the "willful killing, torture or inhuman treatment" of prisoners. If death results, the act imposes the death penalty...

..Are you sure it was a mistake?
Who are the ONLY ones going to court on charges? What better person to put in there than some young, untrained, doesn't have a clue about the Geneva convention or hand-out about it, not the smartest kids in the class types, in the deadly environment and fear they faced day and and day out, and pump them up about the bad guys, praising them, in a prison block that it completely shut off from the rest of the prison and the commander herself, making them feel special and part of the "special" wing, etc., etc. They were too easy and willing to please, and easy, convenient, scapegoats.
I don't excuse their actions - but if you look at it closely - you can see why it happened and who is really responsible.
