Al Gore to Expose Bush on Environment, Global-Warming

NEW YORK, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Former Vice President Al Gore will deliver a major address attacking the Bush Administration's policies on global warming and the environment at the historic Beacon Theatre in New York City on Thursday, January 15. The speech is being co-sponsored by MoveOn.org and Environment2004.

Mr. Gore will issue an indictment of the Bush administration's inaction on global warming, linking the issue to U.S. national security. He will show that global warming is happening right now, and yet the President is choosing to help his coal- and oil-company supporters rather than advance modern technologies that can affordably solve this critical problem. The speech will also explore the administration's deliberate attempts to mislead the public as it attacks basic environmental laws and protection.

This is a free event, but attendance is open only to members of MoveOn.org and Environment2004 who have RSVP'd, and to credentialed journalists. Journalists may alternatively listen to the speech by phoning in. Members of the media planning to attend the event or join the listen-in conference call MUST RSVP BY EMAIL to [e-mail] or [e-mail].

Gore's previous two speeches for MoveOn.org addressed the credibility of the administration and its attacks on civil liberties.

Mr. Gore's views on the environment and climate change are the main reasons why I have stayed so loyal to his vision. Earth In The Balance showed he has an extensive knowledge to the CORE about this issue which speaks to me so much about his nature. And his predictions are coming true. Through all the character assassination, mudslinging, criticizing, and demeaning of his stance on this issue by others who haven't even a scintilla of the knowledge he has on this issue, his views remain now in the mainstream where once they were thought of as eccentric. He showed great courage in writing that book and baring his soul. I will never support another the way I support him. NEVER. I will vote for Dean should he get the nomination, only because he isn't Bush. However, for me, if there is still any way to get Al Gore that nomination, I'm in it until the very last delegate is counted on the very last ballot, and beyond.

Did they say why? Yes, EC, it is depressing, and frustrating. I can empathize with you. The greatest President this country would ever know, and now because he endorsed Dean, his speeches aren't even carried on C-Span because DEAN is now in the spotlight. Believe me, I do see it, and it does upset me to see him stepping aside like this.That is why PFG cannot stop trying to secure any bit of representation at this convention to show America and him that this is such an injustice! What was stolen from ALL of us three years ago must not be forgotten. This country is simply in too much peril to hand it over to just anyone. This issue he speaks on today is simply too important on its own merits to be ignored. It is shameful really what this country has come to. I truly do hope that some good can at least come out of this effort, and if nothing else , people WILL remember that we stayed and fought to the end.

Yes, I searched all over this morning for coverage, even freespeech and democracynow doesn't show any sign of it. This has to be because of some extreme pressure against it, from the top 10 megatropolis on high. Should be livestreamed on pacifica radio which we can listen to online. If it's not there folks, the powers that be won, and this has never been taken to this level before with any of his speeches. We should be able to see it later on those free speech channels, but a bummer that we can't see it as it happens.
