It's Al Gore's House! And of that, there is no doubt!
We have a fight on our hands, folks. It is highly likely that John Kerry will be coronated as the Democratic nominee in July. The reality of a brokered convention is all but gone save a miracle and the reality of a second Bush term is more likely than ever. I still hold the belief that Al Gore is the person with the best chance to win against Bush. That has not changed.
Everyone's suggestions on how to proceed are nothing short of brilliant. (Thank you Jan, Julia, EM, EC,Lil and GL!)If we don't get what we want, we at least will be heard and no one will forget.
After the convention and after the Nov. election, if Bush is reselected to a second term, what can we do to save our country? We can't stand by and let him destroy our lives and the lives of our children. I've imagined what it will be like in this country in 10 years if the neocons hold onto power and I don't see my daughter approach adulthood with any kind of hope in that event.
For now, we can all write the DNC, DLC, newspapers, to congresspeople, the Black Caucus or to whoever it will make an impact. I plan to help with the IL dem. Senatoral candidate also so MAYBE there will be some chance of regaining the Senate. That would do a lot to stop Bush in his tracks.
I'm in this until the convention and will never give up on Gore, but I have no more tears to cry. My teacup has runneth over and I smashed it against the wall.
Its Al Gore's house...always will be. If Kerry wins in November he'd better remember that too.

Our house has been violated, and we are not sitting quietly by to watch it happen, or to watch our own party fall into the same trap as the Republican party did. Democrats are losing their voice in this party, and it is time for those of us who do know what this party should be about to speak out loud. The Democratic values we all espouse, including, freedom, justice, equal rights for ALL Americans, environmental standards that help our planet thrive and our economy prosper, social programs that are not hand outs but helping hands to inspire people to succeed and seek out opportunity, etc., are the cornerstone of our party. We also believe in PEOPLE and we see THEM as the legs this country stands on. We are however, crippled at the hands of leadership even in our own party now that would stifle our voice and dictate our future. That is simply UNACCEPTABLE. Therefore, there will be a new strategy involved regarding what this group does from now up to the Democratic convention and beyond, and should we by some chance even fail, they WILL KNOW WE WERE HERE. Look what I found in my inbox this morning, ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D The Democratic National Committee is sending the following special message on behalf of John Kerry, the next President of the United States. A message from John Kerry: Let's work together and win Dear, I know how much you have done to help our Party and its candidates and I am writing to tell you that I need you by my side every step of this campaign. Yesterday, our campaign won impressive victories, winning 9 of 10 states and a sweeping majority of the delegates at stake on the biggest day of our campaign. This morning, George W. Bush launched his $150 million campaign to try to set the terms of the debate for the general election. The ads he runs will attempt to distract from the miserable record he has built, and the hardships his one-sided, misguided policies have caused the American people. We have no opportunity to savor yesterday's victories. We must act quickly to respond to tomorrow's challenges. www.democrats.org/support/kerry/contribute.htmlWill we let the Bush campaign define this election, distorting his record and mine in the process? Or will we carry the momentum of yesterday's enormous victory forward with energy and enthusiasm? You and I both know the answer. Together, we have to fight for every vote and answer every challenge. Let's roll up our sleeves and go to work. I am confident that, working side by side, we can take on any challenge and win. www.democrats.org/support/kerry/contribute.htmlWarm regards, John Kerry PS: To win, I must have the support of every Democrat. Please forward or print this message and give it to all your friends and family. The real battle starts now and I must have your help to win. PERHAPS I have missed something here, but it appears to me that the Republican party, the Democratic Party and the Media have DECIDED our party nominee already for us?? I AM OUTRAGED and I will write every letter, make every phone call, email, letter to the editors, post and EXPRESS MY OUTRAGE AS MUCH AS I POSSIBLY CAN... This is hijacking the people's voices and I urge everyone to contact Kucinich and Sharpton to remain in this race. THIS IS A MATTER OF PRINCIPLE NOW... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D -GoreLeadership

I think it's also imperative now to make demands for the prosecution of out-and-out high crimes this admin is trying to keep quiet and get away with. Unless the masses come unglued about it, they may succeed and proceed into 5 more years of illegal, immoral, and unAmerican leadership. Just weeks ago, the outrage of that boob deal caused the kind of mass reaction in the spotlight that shoud be happening right now w/bush's blatant two-faced stance on 9.1.1 issues. At the same time as he touts his wonderful abilities to secure this nation in the face of terrorists, he refuses to show all of the pertinent details necessary to prove that they did just that. He uses the backdrop of the scene of the crime in his campaign rhetoric, totally disgracing himself to the families of those victims. peacefultomorrows.org validates this claim as many of these suffering people have to fight this president to quit using this tragedy to further justify more killing of innocents. We cannot let him fool the public about his "cooperation" on any area under investigation at this time, including the leak that exposed the CIA operative (HIGH crime). We can not let his campaign claims go unchallenged that he protects us while he seeks to take away basic constitutional rights. We can not let him paint his sainthood in democratizing Iraq, while he forces it upon them regardless of their culture and own political choices, at the same time as he takes democracy from our own country. We need to get loud, downright noisy and insist media shed light on the truth. By making our claims loud, the other side is forced to counter, and the truth will be exposed. Prove us right or prove us wrong and the truth will be set free.

Just saw that last post about the instant coronation of our democratic nominee. Combining these important issues, our action must now focus on getting more media coverage. There are groups that are making waves at some major networks right now over the voting machines, another key concern. Let's post some of the names of orgs to help viewers add their names and issues to those petitions already on track. The first one I know of is mediachannel.org.

GoreLeadership--I had one of those John Kerry letters from the DNC in my mailbox this morning, too. And not only that, it was followed by a letter from Moveon.org, saying, "It's now clear that John Kerry is going to be the Democratic nominee" . . . blah blah blah. They're asking for money to help combat the ads Bush is now running against Kerry. So it is a done deal, and everyone buys that. There is no way, I suppose, to keep Kerry from getting the delegates he needs. Does anyone know what the actual delegate count is right now? I know he's close to the necessary 2,162, and since all the "serious" contenders have dropped out, I guess there's no chance of anything else happening. If Dean had some plan up his sleeve, I'm afraid he's waiting too long to reveal it. By March 18th, this will be all over, won't it?

Earthmother - I think I heard on Crossfire or somewhere last night that Mr. K. is about 700 delegates short of his promised land. I was wondering... If Al has any hopes or plans at all of making a fight at the convention he probably needs to start setting up his "team" pretty close to now, dosen't he? He'll need an enormous amount of money in a relatively short period of time in order to put down Bush's lies. Has anyone out there -- anyone with any connection to, or indirect knowledge of, possible Gore staff -- heard any hints or chatter about key people making any moves behind the scene? It seems to me that if he has any plans at all, we should watch the so-called players to see what they are up to. Or could he be lining up quietly with the Dean team? I also heard Carvil and Begala talk strongly about Kerry beating Bush. Since I thought Begala was a strong Gore supporter, it doesn't seem like he's giving any hints as to any behind the scenes knowledge he might have. Thom

SOL--I don't think anyone's heard a thing about or from Gore for quite a while. If they have, they're keeping it a well kept secret. Everyone knows he stood in for Edwards on Feb. 22 in Idaho. Beyond that, he's been extremely quiet. So has Dean. If the two of them are cooking something up (unlikely, IMO), they are being very good at keeping it under wraps. I have to go along with what I heard Bill Maher say last night on Larry King Live. He said he doesn't subscribe to conspiracy theories because it's just too hard for that many people to keep something to themselves. I think he's right. Word leaks out, someone tells someone they shouldn't have told, and before you know it, the media are all over it. I think if Dean and/or Gore are working on something, they'd be smart enough to know that time is about to run out. With Kerry this close to wrapping up the nomination, I can't imagine any scenario in which Dean and/or Gore could jump in now. The best they could hope to achieve would be to keep enough delegates to make some impact at least on the official platform at the convention. Of course, miracles can happen, and both Dean and Gore are good and seasoned politicians, and you just never know. But I think if there were something up their sleeves, they'd have played their hand by now. We all wonder what plan Dean will announce on March 18th, but I doubt it will be something earth-shaking.
Wish I could be more optimistic, but no one's given us any reason to have any hope at this point. I think all we can do is continue protesting to the DNC that this race isn't over yet and that we want everyone's voices heard before they crown King Kerry. And maybe Dean, Sharpton and Kucinich will have enough delegates among them at the convention to influence the platform. Anything can happen, as I said, but we have been given no reason to think that it will.

Oh, and about Begala--I forgot to address that. I know Begala WAS a Gore fan, but I haven't seen him say anything positive about Gore for quite a while now. In fact, I heard him say something surprisingly negative a month or so ago, but I think it shocked me so much that I've blocked out my memory of what it was now. I think Begala kind of blows with the wind. I can't even watch Crossfire anymore because they're all such bloviated, hyper-active extremes of themselves at this point that no one even talks sense anymore. They just go for the comment that will get the most applause, and that's it. James Carville belongs in an institution somewhere, Tucker Carlson needs an anger-management course, Paul Begala needs a sedative, and Bob Novak needs to go back to Kindergarten and learn how to play nicely with others. I've gotten so I prefer Hardball these days, despite Chris Matthews' inability to let other people talk, although he seems to be getting better at that.

It's Al Gore's house-in-waiting until such time as he moves in and completes the term (or two) he was elected to serve.
All other residents are squatters, and this country no longer acknowledges squatters' rights.

Karen - I agree totally with your analysis of the crossfire bunch. Carville is a genuine original, though; he is what he is, take him or leave him. In spite of his sometimes obnoxious rant and hard-to-understand accent, I think he's a true believer and he's always good for a laugh. I agree about Begala and Novak, but Tucker Carlson just strikes me as a snot-nosed little whiner of a political geek: whenever he can't justify his argument or win a point in their discussion he always seems to resort to name-calling. And I hate his final argument on almost any subject, when he spouts the standard Republican curse word - "LIBERAL" - as if it justifies his position, or when he turns to calling Barbara Striesand the leader of the Democratic Party. I wish someone would ask him what makes an ultra liberal any different or any worse than an ultra far-right conservative like Jerry Falwell. Personally, I'm more affraid of the Falwells in the world whose final argument always ends with, "If you don't believe the way I do, your gonna go straight to hell... 'CAUSE GOD TOLD ME SO!" Anyway, back to the subject... I can't believe Al could be watching all this and sitting calmly on the sidelines when he has to know that this might be his only, and best chance to reclaim the office. There are too many variables to wait till 2008, he must go for it now. We all know how badly he was hurt when the office was stolen from him, and we know he's said that Bush must go NOW. So he must have some plans even if we can't quite see them yet. Either way, if he does have any plans he needs to prepare soon. I love Bill Maher and I agree about the conspiracy comment he made on Larry King but somebody on the Gore team must be sneaking around somewhere like a church mouse behind the scenes quietly laying the ground work. I still find it odd how much money has yet to be committed by the really big donors. Maybe they just don't trust a Kerry candidacy or something. One other short point: In my home town some members of the Democratic party didn't like the way things were being done in the party and branched off on their own. Although they were almost identical to the originial party in their positions they called themselves "The Independant Democratic Team" and ran separate candidates. What might the chances be of Gore and Dean - or just Gore himself - going to the convention, give one hell of an orgasmic speech (remember the "Kiss") and say "I don't like the way the party is going, this is what I believe in and I've decided to run as an independant democrat, please support me." I guarantee, the way Al can fire up the faithful the convention would be thrown wide open, all those super-delegates can change their commitments, and Mr. K. would be left choking in the dust, er... confetti. Could Dean's announcement possibly have something to do with something like this? Sorry, I hate when I get like this. Thom

Thom, you are talking to major major imaginations here that will read anything into anything just to have golden thoughts of the America we want. We've gotten so good at reading between the lines, that all of us jump into the same white space at the same time and cause glitches, obvious as of late.
If you have a new spin, its like a whiff of fresh air. We're the kings and queens of wishful thinking. And some people may ridicule us for it. What keeps us going is the dream of what it will feel like to be the last of the die hards -- and he makes it -- and the world gets better because of it. That thought keeps our eyes so steadily on the prize we don't even blink. We know he's the very best at knowing how to get this country back to the way it was before this admin took it.
And we want more than a handful of kerry's primary campaign speeches before everyone calls him IT and the whole things done. It aint over, til the first one crosses the finish line. Do you know how frustrating it is to be in a state sitting in these last positions, and not get to place a vote for anyone at all, let alone be able to pick from four or five, let alone 9-10 that iowa and nh got to do? Its enuf to send the blood pressure into stroke zone. So if you want to add any fresh comments or ideas or dreams, go right ahead. We will enjoy it immensely, I promise.
Oh and one more thing, jog my memory about that kiss, what kiss?
