We've picked up a bunch of new members since Dean dropped out, and I've also been personally contacted by some people at AGDems who've responded to my recruiting efforts. I just wanted to send all the new members a big welcome and I invite them to work with us in whatever way they can. We still want Gore in 2004, because 2008 is too late!

Thanks for the big welcome!! I will do my best to get people talking about Gore in 2004. We need him to get this country back on track.
I was a serious volunteer for Dean (even drove him and staffers around NYC in September), and when he dropped out, I instantly thought that the only other person who could be just as qualified to oust Bush is Al Gore. Kerry or Edwards are just not strong enough. They are just politicians who will not work hard enough to make a differnce in this country. Al Gore would get this country moving in the right direction again.
Thank you, earthmother for providing Gore's mailing address (elsewhere in the forum). I will write him today, and I will post his address along with my Gore message on the popular "Dean for America" blog, as well as Joe Trippi's new "Change for America" blog.

Uhhh.. It's taking me and my eyes a few minutes to get used to this forum. Been a Deaniac and before being a Deaniac, was Al Gore's committed voter.
Al Gore will always be the president! Sign me up for that.

Welcome, welcome, bellfacto. We even forgive you for being a Deaniac! Just kidding. Everyone has to follow his/her own conscience. We all know that too well. I'm curious . . . how did you find us? You know, it's like when a doctor's office asks you who referred you. Did you come by way of the Dean site, or did you just search around for Gore sites now that you're back with Gore? It'd be helpful for us to know so we know where to concentrate our recruiting efforts. If you don't want to spill your guts in public, you can send me a private message or write to my e-mail address, which is available in the members' profile area. In any case, very glad to have you on board. I'm hoping you're truly committed to this and are willing to work to get Gore in. We need many, many people now to help with the final push. It's an uphill battle, and the hill seems to get steeper and steeper as we get nearer to the top, but if we all push together, WE CAN DO IT! Let us know if you want to help with sending out the superdelegate letter we've written. We're trying to contact as many of the 725 superdelegates as we can (of which Al Gore is one--who gets to send THAT letter?!). Our hope is that, since superdelegates remain officially uncommitted until they vote at the convention, we can sway enough of them to vote for Gore and get him nominated. That, coupled with perhaps Dean's committed delegates, and maybe there's some hope. We will draft him from the convention floor. But it's going to take a lot of work, and we need people to help. If you're interested in helping, please let us know, either here or in another thread, or by contacting one of us personally. And again, glad to have you with us.

Found you from Chris Jackson's post on the Dean Forum. Had no idea until then that you guys existed. Is Chris a girl or a guy? Really great for a 17 year old as he stated on the forum.
In Real Time, do you think this is doable? Getting Gore nominated? Boy, I would so love it!
Going to contribute when my pay pal account is refurbished about Wed., to you guys.

Thanks for sharing, bellfacto. And btw, Chris is very much a he. Good guy, deserves all of our respect and thanks for doing this.
And wonderful news that you'll be contributing. Hope others follow your lead, because we defintely need some money to keep the effort going. Can't run a campaign without money, especially when we don't even have Gore helping us out!
As for your question about real time and this being doable, it is, no question, a very difficult thing, and the odds are against us. BUT, there is no GOOD reason why Gore can't be drafted from the convention floor. It's utterly doable. It's happened before, granted, in different times, but there's no reason it can't happen again. Especially because we have what appears to be a couple of strong candidates who are going to tough it out until the convention. If Edwards drops out and only Kerry remains, or vice versa, then no, the one remaining candidate would likely have enough votes to get in on the first ballot at the convention (a candidate needs 50% plus 1 vote to get the nomination). But if Kerry and Edwards continue vying for top spot and each gets something in the 30% range, there's a chance. Also, all 725 of the superdelegates (roughly a third of the total number of delegates at the convention) are officially uncommitted until they actually vote at the convention. And they're free to vote for whomever they please. They can also change their vote at will. So we're trying to contact as many of them as we can to put the idea of nominating Gore in their heads. The superdelegates are senators, congresspeople, governors, other VIPs within the Dem. party. Most know Gore. Most almost certainly supported Gore in 2000. We can safely assume that many would support him again.
So yes, it is doable. Very difficult, but doable. I hope you'll help us. And if you can bring any other Deanies you know from the Dean site over to here, that would be great.
Thanks for joining us.

One other thing, bellfacto. I don't mean to inundate you with stuff on your first night here, but I have sent you a personal message. You can access it on the opening page of the forum section. On the bottom, under "Forum Statistics," you'll see a place where it says you have 1 new instant message. Click on that, and it'll take you to the message I've sent you.
Thanks again.

Oh Patrick and belfactor you are so good to see You've just run into the brightest bunch of faithfuls! Get ready and bring others with you. Get on board this train, cause we are going places that only the strong get to go to!!! Smash through those doubts, knock down the skeptics, step on those who call us fools, we won't settle for less than one who's already beat george once and he's relishing the chance to take him on with an army behind him this time! That's us. We may be small now, but you just wait......nothing's mightier than a bunch of Americans who love their country and are willing to make those who have died for our freedom, proud that we are alive and going for what it right on their behalf, and for the future! Get on board the freedom train!

Uh oh . . . Jan? The address I've been giving people for Gore's office is a different suite number (620, not 790--same street address, though). I guess letters will find him either way, but did he move his offices? I got the address off AGDems about a year ago. In fact, I think it might even have been you who posted it, but I really don't remember. Which is correct? I'm assuming it's the one you posted above, as it's probably more recent. Should I go back and correct my posts? No, I'm sorry, 620 is the right number. I'm so used to it being the other one. Yes, again, the Suite number to his office is 620, not 790. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Jan

Belfacto, welcome here. I saw your responses to Chris (a great young man who is the administrator here) on the Dean forum where I responded, and yes, we believe nominating Al Gore from the floor of the convention is very doable. People need to look beyond what they are shown in the media to a large extent, and realize that there are millions of Americans who voted for Gore in 2000 because they knew his policies would be the better ones for this country, and they still are. In the past four years, Al Gore's message has not been diminished, it has grown even stronger and so has the support we have for him and the issues he holds dear because we hold them dear as well. I hope you will consider helping us out in this cause, and your donation will be very appreciated now as we head into the final stretch. This can be an historical convention, with the Peoples' President being nominated by the people. We can then show the world that we are a country of freedom, democracy, and a country where the voice of the people is still heard. Also, writing to your representatives is also a good idea as well as writing to Mr. Gore himself. His address was posted here yesterday, but I will post it here again for you:
The Honorable Al Gore 2100 West End Avenue Suite 620 Nashville, Tennessee, 37203
This is a fight for the survival of all we cherish. Let's make it count! Thanks again for joining us. Jan

You know, I was just checking on the membership info for this forum, and I realized we've picked up about 30 new members in the last month or so. I wonder where they all came from? Are they ex-Deanies? Some of them have participated and made themselves known to us, and we welcome them with open arms, but I'm wondering who the rest of them are? Speak up! Don't be shy! We want to hear from you!
