i wonder if part of the reluctance to change regarding our oil consumption - rather the governments' lack of limiting our oil consumption - has something to do with more than capital hill bed fellows with oil companies. i think it might have something to do with - what happens to the middle east when we no longer need any oil from them hardly at all? their economy tanks. their kingdoms fall? extremist islam takes control? which means more terrorism?
personally i'd rather curb global warming by using cars that don't use any gasoline - and use nuclear power plants to replace fossil fuel burning ones - and i don't give a darn about the middle east.
someone like Al Gore would know if these sorts of hidden agendas exist or not. being regular citizens - we have no way to tell what hidden agendas might be a part of policy making, we can only consider such things as possible. i am not into conspiracy theories much but - i wonder about this one regarding the desire to keep pumping money into middle eastern economies in order to keep the region stable. you can imagine what would happen to those countries if suddenly the entire world replaced all their vehicles with hydrogen fuel cells.
