Dear President Gore,
Yes, sir, I call you President, because to me and to many Americans you are the President, and frankly, I think it is about time many more people in this country admitted that. You will always be my and my family's President, and that is based on historical fact and not partisanship. I put my country before party, and it has truly been to the detriment of our Democracy that so many have not. I am writing to you for reasons that are twofold: Firstly, I cannot tell you how gratified I am to hear you speaking out for the people of this nation in exposing the betrayers in our midst. Bush did betray this country, it's people, it's legacy, and it's children's future. Thank you for speaking the words so many feel. All you said that would come to pass when you were campaigning in 2000 has come true. Even those who laughed at your lockbox are now seeing how right you were about that as well. Unfortunate to say you were right on those accounts, but I even saw all this coming and tried to tell people. Frustrating to say the least that so many care little for truth, yet so much more for soundbytes and sensationalism. We need to face facts, however, Mr. Gore. This nation is a nation run on media soundbytes, polls, and propaganda. Do you see how John Kerry has suddenly catapulted into the "frontrunner " position? This after having such low numbers only a month and a half ago? This is pure media manipulation at its best in my opinion, and I am outraged and disappointed as an American to see the same process continuing with no apparent change in party style in sight. That is why your endorsing Howard Dean was an honest and bold move which I respect, although I believe it was a mistake, because it should have been Dr. Dean endorsing you. For you see Mr. Gore, this nation needs your leadership now more than ever. It is not John Kerry's time. It is not Howard Dean's time. It is not John Edward's time. It is your time, and I have never given up on you and never will.
That leads me to the second reason why I am writing to you today. A group of us who frequent the Gore Support Center that Chris Jackson runs are so incensed by the political games on both sides of the aisle, that we have formed a Federal PAC called Patriots For Gore. We believe in you, your message, and the promise of a sustainable future that your leadership would bring while inspiring Americans to look forward. We have been working in primary states that have a write- in option, with very limited resources in NH, NM, Wisconsin, and also will be in NJ, Alabama, etc. to get the message out that the best man for this job in 2004 is still in the hearts of those Americans who see the prize: The restoration of the soul of this nation, and the inspiration of the American people to reach that prize with you as their leader. Do you have any idea sir, the level of frustration and yet hope that lives within those like myself who do this against all odds? Do you have any idea how much you have touched the hearts and souls of those of us who have remained loyal to you through all of this and will continue to? Do you have any idea of the utter hopelessness we feel knowing we may have to hold our noses and vote for John Kerry with you not anywhere in sight? I love this country Mr. Gore with all of my heart and soul, and I know you do too. That is the main reason why we at Patriots For Gore want you to know that we are here, and that we intend to stay here fighting for you, and more importantly fighting for the causes (like the environment) that you and we believe in.
We have also been emphasizing through this small group that Americans do not have to settle and must let their voices be heard. That hope, faith, conviction, and believing in what is right whatever the cost, is what this nation is all about. It hasn't been easy to do this, however. Believe me, we have met up with obstacles, criticism, and remarks from people who tell us we need to get into reality. I am writing to you to tell you all this in all honesty, because my mind has never been clearer. You are the only Democrat and American statesman who inspires the people, and who truly cares for the issues and speaks out on them. You have been a voice of reason, of inspiration, and of hope to so many people who had given up on public servants actually really giving a damn. The current crop of candidates are doing nothing to inspire people. Kerry imo is a party pick with no message. Edwards, while promising, voted for this war, and needs more experience. Sharpton and Kucinich have no chance with the electorate. Where does that leave the American people, Mr. Gore? I will tell you where it leaves many I talk to. Wanting you to not only speak out with truth to power about Bush as the statesman you are, but as a candidate rightfully asserting your place as this party's leader, in seeking justice for the wrongs and injustices perpetrated on our people and our constitution. I know sir, you have said you will not run. You have endorsed another candidate who is now no longer in this race. However, times are crucial, and the very fate of this nation hangs on a thread. Surely, the American people including our PAC will fight for issues that hopefully will make change, and life will go on such as it would be. However, people need inspiration, leadership, and truth. You provide all of that, and it is because of those qualities that nothing will deter us from doing all we can up to the convention to let people know where we stand as Americans. An opportunity lost is lost forever. I truly believe this is your time, or I wouldn't be writing this letter to you. I do hope you reconsider your options.
Even though our group has also pledged to vote for the eventual Democratic nominee, we will not give up in supporting you up until that point and I thought that you should know that. I also wanted you to know that should I have to vote for one of those who are left because I know there is no choice but to get Bush the betrayer out of power, my spirit will still be void, my inspiration will still be gone, and I will still lose hope for the future, because the flame you could light with your passion, your sincerity, your love of this country and its people, your respect in this world as a statesman, and your integrity as the true and rightful President of this nation will have once again been snuffed out by those who have no idea of the opportunity they wasted, and my voice will once again be silenced. That is not what this country is all about, for no voice should be silenced. However, in closing let me say that whatever happens regarding how this all plays out, I respect you, admire you, and will always remember the inspiration and leadership you gave to this nation, and hope you never stop doing that. My son who is only twelve years old has also been learning so much from this process and has told me that he too wants to see you as the President of the United States. I hope he gets his wish someday. I know this country would be the better for it.
Sincerely,
Jan Moore
