Earthmother and everyone else:
I have an excellent idea. I just wrote to my small local newspaper in Clatskanie, OR. I sent an open letter to Pres. Al Gore and asked him to run in 2004!
Everyone, everywhere needs to do the same thing --NOW!!!
Most newspapers accept these via email. You can reach the big papers as well as the smallest in the country. Our community only has 1400 and yet it will be in our paper. I also wrote the same to the larger paper in Longview, WA.
Swamp them People!! let the media know that we want him to run. Let him know that we are serious. If we make a push for this TODAY. It will be in the papers right when we need it most.
Earthmother, I am sorry I haven't written. I have been trying to do a little grassroots of my own. Let me know what else I can do.
Jesse

Hi, Jesse--I was wondering where you've been, and I'm glad to hear you're still with us. Unfortunately, after last night, I think we're all feeling crushed again. The dream of a brokered convention is over. The coronation begins. Some of us have written letters to editors before about Gore, but your approach is a little different. I think we'd need an organized effort where we get as many people to do this as we can in the same week so that many papers are hit at the same time. Trouble is, I don't know how many are still on board now that Edwards has dropped out and this is no longer a race. I'd like to hear some feedback from others around here, once they've scraped themselves up off the floor and are conscious again after last night's battering. I know Jan is still gung-ho, and it remains to be seen how everyone else feels. Let's see what kind of responses there are to your idea, and we'll go from there. Meanwhile, thanks for hanging with us, and please don't give up.

Meanwhile, thanks for hanging with us, and please don't give up. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Actually EM, my heart is very heavy today. I cried this morning while reading all the media pushes for Kerry. This is simply WRONG, and I too am having a bit of a rough time of it today. We have all been so committed and loyal to this cause and to Mr. Gore, not because we had to be either, but because of what he inspires in us, and because we know in our souls that this country needs his leadership now. When I see John Kerry standing there getting all the accolades, essentially standing IN Al Gore's place, it is simply too much now, and I have to turn it off. I am still hung ho in contacting superdelegates and in continuing this PAC for any good we can do. Don't be fooled however, today I too am also very sad, angry, and I simply feel betrayed as a citizen of this country. We were robbed of our voice, our electorate, our democracy, and our President. For any American who truly loves this country, it is unbearable to think that so many just DON'T GIVE A DAMN. All I can say is, if by some chance Mr.Gore does happen upon this forum and reads our messages, PLEASE sir, give us direction. We are here for you if you need us. Jan

Oh, Jan, I never meant to imply that you weren't feeling crushed, too. I know you are, as we all are. All I meant is that, from your e-mails and posts this morning, I knew that you weren't giving up this fight and that you're gung-ho to continue with the superdelegate letters, DNC/DLC, etc. Where some would be tempted to lay down their swords today, I know that Jan Moore's will still be raised high, despite the tears rolling down her cheeks, as an inspiration to the rest of us. That's what I meant.

Believe me, you are all an inspiration to me as well, and we should all be very proud for sticking to our convictions thorugh all of this. And you are also correct that my sword is not being laid down at all. We will continue. I just need to think on it for today. But oh yes, we will go on. Al Gore is a leader worth fighting for under all odds, and that is exactly what we will do. Jan
