You know, I keep getting emails from People for the American Way, Moveon.org, Truthout, and all kinds of other organizations that want to get at the truth and stop this administration from turning us into a fascist state. There's a lot of unrest out there, people, a lot more than I've seen for a few decades. We need to find a way to unite all these groups under one banner. That's what I was saying a few weeks ago when Dean dropped out--we need to find a way to piggyback on these larger groups that are already out there, to work together to take this administration down and install the leadership WE want in the White House.
Now, I don't know where some of these organizations stand as far as endorsements. And maybe, as Bill and James have said, we need to focus now not so much on the man as on the message. Maybe the man will follow. Who knows? Maybe Al Gore will be the messenger if we give him the vehicle to ride on. All I know is that desperate times call for desperate measures, and as I sit here this morning trying to absorb the way this whole race has played out, I feel desperate.
We need unity, we need strength, we need numbers in the tens and hundreds of thousands. We need to channel our rage and our anger, focus it, unify under it, and then maybe we have a chance at getting our message out. Maybe Al Gore will become our partner in this? Maybe not as a presidential candidate but as a messenger for all those who lost their voices in 2000 and again now? He certainly understands that.
We need to explore this.
