i don't understand why they didn't use saddam's palaces as the centers of government - in such a risky situation of bombings and shootings.
i heard a reporter from NY Times last night on charlie rose's TV show, that we ought to get out of the way - get a lower profile "get over the horizon" with our troops and only come to the rescue when the Iraqi government requests it.
this sounds good to me. i too thought we should get the heck out of the way but stay very close in a secure base - ready to help when called upon. rather than doing all of this cowboy round em up urban warfare stuff.
we should be able to train and arm iraq special forces to play the cowboy role.
and why these potential heads of state and government workers are getting bombed in hotels is beyond me when we could have them safe and secure living in saddam's palaces, surrounded by some of our forces for security.
i think it could work this way. i hope Kerry thinks so too...
