My letter to the DNC:
Democratic National Committee
430 S. Capitol St. SE
Washington, DC 20003 #202-863-8000
March 10, 2004
To Whom It May Concern;
I am very disturbed by the recent emails I have received from the DNC & various other organizations requesting democrats to “unite” behind Kerry. The last time I checked (which was today), there are still two additional active candidates for the Democratic Nomination. When the 2000 election played out & people were effectively silenced, I thought this was a turning point. When recounts were stopped & the highest court of the land decided to intervene with much controversy, I thought this is an outrage! When our president elect Gore decided not to run, I thought well this is a personal decision, however he said something that was striking to me-“I personally have the energy and the drive and the ambition-- to make another campaign.” My question was how come the DNC & all the people who previously elected him are not supporting him to run & do it again? That question remains unanswered. We are only half way through the primaries and the DNC has effectively silenced the voters again. How come is it that you have turned your backs on the other two active candidates? Is this appropriate? Essentially, if voters followed the logic of your recent emails and messages which by the way are synonymous with the Republicans AND the media, primaries should be done away with and the powers should lie with the DNC alone and you would decide our nominee for us. Where is the democracy? Where is the outrage when we are being steered once again by half truths and powerful influential networks to drive the message home, unite with Kerry the democratic nominee.
I am very disturbed that with an election year like this, the DNC continues to turn its back to Al Gore and essentially the American people. This is not for the DNC to decide however this ultimately rests with the collective powers of the people of this great country. I will not unite behind Kerry because he was not my choice. He in fact did not even rank the top three choices within my family. Kerry has been very indecisive as his record proves and quite obviously being portrayed by the party and media. He votes for the war however against the funding? Huh? In any case, I may be just one person among millions in America but I will refuse to have anyone speak for me unless I chose him/her to do so. The DNC does not speak for me and Al Gore does represent the people and not the powerful and perhaps a country like ours is not prepared for someone like him?! He allows the truth to rise and fosters an environment for the people to fight for what is important. The DNC does not speak for me or millions of others who have been pressured by the DNC and others to “unite” behind Kerry because you have betrayed the trust of democracy in action. Let the process run and let the people decide. I’ll guarantee that if Al Gore decided to run tomorrow in this race, Kerry would be left standing alone. Is Kerry our answer for 2004? Perhaps if you looked at the long term vision and not be influenced by least resistance of paths, we just may have a DNC to support a visionary and a man with real solutions to real problems in this country and that is AL GORE.
We will not contribute to the DNC nor will we turn a blind eye and deaf ear to the messages you have instilled. I will work among other patriots of this great nation to have my voice restored this year. We have sent super delegate letters on behalf of PATRIOTS FOR GORE all around the country, effectively trying to counter your message. Strange thing is we should all be on the same side. But democrats in office have taken the position of working closer to the Republican party and this administration rather than working closer to the people and fighting for what is right. Truth, justice and honor will prevail and only time and higher powers can determine when and how this will surface. I will do my part to stand my ground, have a backbone and be proud of whom I am. I choose not to be a part the current direction of the democratic party because you are more aligned with others than you are on principles and values. And this is exactly why there is a Nader factor, otherwise people would vote Democratic because we stand for something. Tell me what we stand for and I will tell you I am a democrat. I am American first and I will exercise my freedom to decide myself who will best represent me. People have fought and died for these very principles and perhaps people should reassess their perspective on the political arena. Power to the people and I will work day and night to have the best choice nominee for this year and it is AL GORE, period…
Thank you.
