The following link is an article on how one republican Representative was bribed on the House floor to vote for the medicare bill. If true, we should all be aware that bribery of a public official is a federal crime, and that this kind of illegal activity is most likely going on behind the scenes in our senate and house chambers. Eleven dems voted for that bill. It kind of makes you wonder who is filling their reelection coffers? While Rep. Smith is probably afraid to come clean on this, I think we ought to acknowledge that this illegal activity is going on and we should try to somehow draw attention to it and make it public. truthout.org/docs_03/120403A.shtml

Hahahaha...you know how long bribery has been standard procedure in Washington? ![8-)](http://www.abestweb.com/smilies/smokin.gif) The media knows it since they're part of the bribery system. So don't expect an outcry. Dennis

Gorezilla, I'm afraid you are right about bribery being the rule and not the exception up on Capital Hill. It's no laughing matter though. It is a real threat to our democracy and our republic, or whatever it is we have now. I am outraged that some of our elected representatives are in our faces, engaging in this repulsive and illegal activity. They should be reminded that it is illegal and punishable by law. However, the crooks are in charge, so it is not likely they will do anything about it soon or ever. But this should not stop anyone of us from being publicly outraged at this behavior. We should condemn and not condone it just because it is prevalent.
I think its outrageous that two years after the Enron scandal broke, no top-level Enron executives have been indicted. And it doesn't look like its going to happen any time soon, or ever. Look at the hardship they have caused people. So let me say here that I am outraged that no indictments are forthcoming for Ken Lay and the other top level Enron executives.
The extent of corruption in our government is very pervasive. But it will NEVER cease or subside if we chose to sit by the sidelines and say and do nothing about known illegal activity, whether it be performed by corporate CEOs or our elected government officials. It's unacceptable.
