Talk about "Shock and Awe" or shall I say, "Shock and Horror?" uh..EM..I think I might be busy that day.. Oh come on... You all aren't that bad. It's for your country. I think we would make a good Weapon of Mass Distraction. LOL. That seems to be the name of the game these days anyway.;-) Or hey, we could use it as bribery... either bring him into this or we let it all hang out... Jan

Or maybe we just start our own party--the Thong Party! And of course, Gore would be our candidate. Now, Tipper and everyone else would have to wear thongs, too, but we wouldn't allow Monica in, because her thong would say "Re-elect Clinton in 2004!" . . . or . . . maybe it wouldn't. Well, anyway, I'm afraid I've truly grossed myself out here. I don't know about the rest of you, but yes, it IS that bad. Hey, I'll be 52 in a little over a week, and I'm not in the best shape, to put it mildly. Maybe you all can go ahead without me?

Believe me, I'm really a tee shirt and sweats kind of girl myself, though, I'll brag and say I'm not toooooo bad, yet. At this point, however, I think letters would definitely be more effective and not half as embarrassing. Don't worry, anything we might ever do in public will have us fully clothed. ;-). Jan

The bulk of John Kerry's support is from people who are furious with Bush, not people who believe in their hearts that Kerry is the best choice. The man is as fence straddling as they come, and a tepid campaigner.
Now everyone is grousing about Kerry floating the idea of not accepting the nomination at the convention, saying it turns the whole thing -- which wouldn't have been that exciting in the first place -- into a big joke. But wouldn't it be amazing if the delegates decided to act courageously and nominate Al Gore by acclamation?!?!!!!!

Mike--You're right that most of Kerry's support is ABB, and it's a shame that we don't have a candidate this year who everybody really thinks is great in his own right, not just because he isn't George Bush.
As for the delegates voting in Gore by acclamation at the convention, we tried everything we could to get that to happen. We sent out letters to all the superdelegates and state party chairs making our case for them to vote for Gore. Unfortunately, it's not going to happen. Kerry will get the nomination on the first ballot because he has enough committed delegates to do that. Now, if the convention were to go to a second ballot . . .

I wouldn't dismiss Kerry's supporters so quickly. Last September when a few of us went to the DNC Dinner to hand out Draft Gore flyers, there was a large group of Kerry supporters there too. There were over 30 of them and they seemed very passionate about him. Now, if the convention were to go to a second ballot . . . Of course, if Kerry got sick or died, they would need a new nominee. Someone who was nationally know and had a track record of beating Bush. Please don't take the above seriously. I just wanted an excuse to use the vomiting icon.
